Asphalt Shingle and PVC Installation in Wareham, MA
In Wareham, MA, we worked on a rebuild project. In this project, we installed an Owens Corning Duration system, as well as PVC fascia and rake board. As asphalt shingles were specified on a 2/12 slope, we used a 40-ml ice-and-water barrier and stainless steel nails. Closed-cell insulation is applied to the underside of the roof deck, so intake and exhaust ventilation options were not installed.
Asphalt Shingle and Soffit Replacement in Carver, MA
In Carver, MA, we started by removing the existing roof system. Then, we sheathed the deck with new OSB, eliminating potential issues due to large spacing between deck boards. We removed the siding from two sidewalls to install an ice-and-water barrier on the angle changes. CertainTeed Landmark Pro shingles were installed with 1.5-inch stainless steel ring-shank nails. Along the rake soffits, we replaced the erroneously installed ventilated soffit with a solid soffit. At the eaves soffits, we installed a center-vent soffit, replacing the sparsely or randomly ventilated existing soffit.

ButtonQuincy, MA Asphalt Shingle Replacement
In Quincy, MA, we replaced the asphalt shingle system on all facets of this house. By removing the siding from the dormers, we were able to install ice-and-water shield along the angle changes as well as 3M flashing tape over this ice-and-water shield and over the new step flashing. One facet had no overhang, and in order to provide intake ventilation, CertainTeed’s roof-top intake vent was installed. The homeowner opted for Landmark Pro shingles and stainless steel, ring-shank nails. In addition to the roofing, a run of seamless gutters and downspouts was installed.
Asphalt Shingle and EPDM Installation in Harvard Square
In Harvard Square, we installed EPDM and asphalt shingles on a historical renovation project. For the asphalt shingles, we installed a CertainTeed Landmark Pro system. We also used Grace Select under and over our gutter aprons and CertainTeed RoofRunner (installed with cap nails) over the remainder of the sheathing. The project also included new skylights with Landmark Pro shingles fastened with stainless steel ring-shank nails and CertainTeed ridge ventilation. For the main EPDM system, we adhered reinforced 60-ml EPDM to high-density polyisocyanurate insulation (“iso”).
In this high-traffic area, pedestrian safety and comfort were especially significant considerations. We positioned someone on the ground at all times to watch for debris. This ensured that the sidewalk area was kept in pristine condition.
Cambridge, MA Asphalt Shingle Roof Replacement
For this project in Cambridge, MA, we installed new sheathing prior to our CertainTeed roof system. This consisted of Grace Select above all overhangs and in the valley, CertainTeed RoofRunner over the rest of the sheathing, a cricket behind the chimney, along with new flashing, a new skylight, and ventilation at the soffit and ridge.
Chinatown EPDM and Rubber Roof Replacement
This project was completed in the Chinatown neighborhood of Boston, MA. We removed several inches of built-up roofing. Then, after repairing and re-fastening the decking as needed, we installed a fully-adhered 40-ml vapor barrier, two layers of 2.5-inch polyisocyanurate insulation, crickets behind all skylights and elevator shafts, one layer of .5-inch high-density polyisocyanurate insulation, and 60-ml EPDM, fully adhered with 6-inch laps.
Modified Bitumen Roof Replacement in South Yarmouth, MA
We completed this project in South Yarmouth, MA. We first separated our customer's roof from their neighbor’s by building a small parapet wall. After removing the existing roof system down to the decking, we installed a 6-ml poly-vapor barrier, a tapered polyisocyanurate insulation system that ensured water drains toward both edges, two layers of SBS modified bitumen base sheet, and one layer of SBS modified bitumen cap sheet. The seams and flashing of all three layers were hot-air welded for a secure finish.
Asphalt Shingle, Decking, and Insulation Replacement in Onset, MA
In Onset, MA, we started by removing an asphalt shingle system, all of the decking, and all of the insulation. Then, we installed new R49 insulation with baffles between the rafters, new plywood sheathing with h-clips, and a fully-adhered ice-and-water barrier over all of the new sheathing. We used CertainTeed Landmark shingles, fastened with stainless steel, ring-shank nails. Though it was a winter installation, this roof replacement could not be delayed until temperatures more conducive to roofing. Therefore, we installed sealant underneath every shingle to bond them until higher temperatures activate the seal strips.
Asphalt Shingle Roof Replacement in Coventry, RI
For this project in Coventry, RI, we removed an asphalt shingle system and the vinyl siding of the abutting sidewall. Then, we installed a CertainTeed Landmark system, replaced the siding with new vinyl, and installed a customized galvanized steel chimney cap.
Cambridge, MA EPDM and Rubber Roof Replacement
In Cambridge, MA, we removed an EPDM system and replaced several pieces of plywood sheathing. Then, we installed a 6-ml poly-vapor barrier with a tapered insulation system, pitching water to all three edges away from the house. We added a layer of .5-inch high-density polyisocyanurate insulation and 60-ml EPDM, which was fully adhered with 6-inch laps.
Asphalt Shingle Roof Replacement in Somerville, MA
For this Somerville, MA project, we removed two layers of asphalt shingles and one layer of cedar shingles before we installed new plywood sheathing over the entire roof. Then, we installed an ice-and-water barrier over and around the three dormers and valleys. Then, we used synthetic felt over the remaining decking and CertainTeed Landmark Pro shingles, using stainless steel, ring-shank nails.
Rubber and EPDM Roof Replacement in Brookline, MA
In Brookline, MA, after removing several layers of modified bitumen roofing, we installed new sheathing. Then we installed a 6-ml poly-vapor barrier, .5-inchy high-density polyisocyanurate insulation, and 60-ml, fully adhered EPDM.
Buzzards Bay, MA Asphalt Shingle Roof Replacement
In Buzzards Bay, MA, after removing an asphalt shingle system and replacing a few pieces of sheathing, we installed 9 inches of ice-and-water barrier under our gutter apron metal. Then, we installed our gutter apron metal and 6 feet of ice-and-water barrier over the gutter apron metal and 3 feet of ice-and-water barrier in the valleys. Because this summer house is located near the beach, we installed beautiful CertainTeed Coastal Blue Landmark Pro shingles.
Boston, MA EPDM and Rubber Roof Replacement
In Boston, MA, after removing an EPDM system and then re-fastening the wood decking, we installed a 6-ml poly-vapor barrier, taped around the perimeter and all penetrations with air-tight aluminum tape, before installing a wood nailer around the perimeter flush with .5-inch high-density polyisocyanurate insulation. We installed a two-piece edge metal system, using 24-gauge galvanized steel hook strip and .04-inch Kynar-finished aluminum. To direct water to the gutters, we used a C6 drip edge along the eaves and a gravel stop along the rake edges.

We installed CertainTeed Landmark shingles along with one box vent per plane, providing adequate ventilation.
Low-Rise Polyurethane and EPDM or Rubber System in Allston, MA
For this project in Allston, MA, noise was a particular concern. To address that, we used a fully-adhered system, which significantly reduced the amount of drilling required. After removing the existing roof, we adhered a 40-ml vapor barrier to the concrete deck. Then, using a low-rise polyurethane adhesive, we added a tapered insulation system, creating positive drainage toward the scupper at the end of the roof. The results were spectacular.
Brookline, MA Chimney Re-Flashing
In Brookline, MA, after spanning the gaps between the masonry and the wood decking with galvanized steel, we installed malleable, waterproof tape at all corners. We then waterproofed the chimney with Grace ice-and-water shield, which was adhered and rolled in. Next, we installed two pieces of lead apron flashing at the bottom of the chimney, lead step flashing and lead counter flashing along the sides of the chimney, and two pieces of lead (flashing and counter-flashing) along the top of the chimney.
